Brand and Website Design
Have Dog Can Travel are an independent pet friendly locations listings directory who’s aim is to fill the gap and cover all regions and cities across the UK. With great connections with many hotels and other pet friendly locations Have Dog Can Travel offers a range of pet friendly places to visit and stay at across England, Wales and Scotland. During the set-up of the company, the owner found that many of her fellow pet owners struggled to find places to stay and take their pets. They all seemed to have one pet friendly place to visit, but wanted more variety, as well as more information about the places and where they could go around the area. Have Dog Can Travel knew that they needed to have a brand that was timeless, stylish and connected with the wide pet loving target audience. “As my business is all about listing and reviewing places to stay with your dog, it was also good to see some of the branding that Lucy had worked on for other dog-focused companies.”With a strong focus on typography the brand designed for Have Dog Can Travel portrays the company in a professional, stylish manor, that with the use of the paw print to spell the word ‘dog’ and the handle device turning the logo into a suitcase, echoes the main focus of the company. The colour scheme was chosen to create a calm, relaxed environment to reflect the feelings you strive for when venturing on a holiday and hints to the colours you see at a popular doggy holiday location, the beach. Teamed with a series of traveling based illustrations of Zuki, the Poochon, the brand is brought to life across its marketing materials. The brand has been rolled out over the stationery design and translated into brand guidelines to ensure the Have Dog Can Travel brand is always used in a professional manner that strengthens the brand image.
Have Dog Can Travel knew that their website needed to stand out against the competition, the biggest thing was making the website responsive, allowing users to access information on the go via a mobile device which the competition doesn’t offer.
The Have Dog Can Travel branding is carried throughout the website design and provides a great starting platform that will grow with the company.
With a strong focus on the users journey through the site, a range of categories help the user to navigate through the listings and find the valuable information they require easily and quickly. With a built in rating system those who have experienced the place can provide a comment and ‘paw rating’ to recommend the place to other pet owners.
Being an ever growing directory of pet friendly locations, the ability to add and make changes to the website was essential for the company. The website is built using a WordPress content management system (CMS) which allows the company to seamlessly make changes to their website as and when required.
‘The Dog Blog’ is a quirky feature of the website, which allows the company to communicate with their audience through the persona of Zuki, helping to keep the site current and engage the audience, encouraging the users to share their experiences and upload photos of their adventures, which is a great SEO practice as Google favours websites which are constantly updating with new, current content.
“When we got to work, Sophie project managed perfectly and Lucy worked tirelessly to ensure the branding and image was just what I wanted. Both Sophie and Lucy offered their expertise whilst making me feel in control of the whole process. Nothing was too much trouble for the team.”
The journey of Have Dog Can Travel, is just beginning and the site is expected to grow dramatically over the next few years, offering new and exciting information about places to visit to pet owners across the UK.
We look forward to hearing about Zuki’s travels across the UK to pet friendly locations, and look forward to continuing our relationship with Have Dog Can Travel for many years to come.
