Apple has released its most downloaded apps of 2019 – featuring many of the usual suspects. So let’s have a look at who features in the list.
The top ten is heavily dominated by Google and Facebook-owned apps, with Google occupying the top spot, 6th and 9th; while Facebook has the 2nd, 5th and 8th most popular applications.
1. Youtube
In pole position, we have an app that needs no introduction as the company has been around since the digital stone ages – Youtube. As in 2018, it tops the list for Apple downloads.
2. Instagram
Remaining in second is Instagram. The ever-changing social media platform keeps going from strength to strength, through regular optimisations and new features and 2019 was no different.
3. Snapchat
Despite Snapchat having fallen off in the market for people aged 25+, it is still highly popular among Generation Z and the download figures demonstrate exactly that.
4. TikTok
TikTok is relatively new, compared to its fellow top 10 members, and 2019 saw the platform record its biggest success yet. Last year the app was number 16 on the same list so it will be interesting to see if it can move closer to the top sport in 2020.
5. Messenger
Messenger aka Facebook messenger has been in the top 5 for many years now and it was no different in 2019. The messaging platform takes one step down but remains the most popular out-and-out messaging app.
6. Gmail
Gmail has been on a steady increase in the last few years moving from 11th to 9th in 2018 and now all the way up to 6th.
7. Netflix
Netflix is another of the usual suspects in the top 10. The popular video and tv-series platform has been hugely popular for a while now, and the user-friendliness of the app makes it a great addition to your device.
8. Facebook
You would probably think that Facebook will stay in the top 10 forever, but 8th is the lowest it has been for many years, if not ever!
With more focus on improving Instagram, Facebook may have neglected their primary app recently, but it remains popular.
9. Google Maps
Apple has their own maps application, but it’s never been able to measure up to Google Maps and that’s why the app always scores high on the download charts – this is for Apple devices btw….
10. Amazon
Rounding off the list is Amazon. The must-have app for online shopping is always a popular option and is the only shopping app in the top 10…Prime Video next?
