Ollie completes “Survival of the Fittest”

October 12, 2015

Not content with just managing an award winning digital agency, our Managing Director Ollie completed the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest 2015 this weekend.

The self-professed “world’s biggest urban obstacle course” is an annual challenge that visits several cities throughout the UK including Nottingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, London, and Cardiff. Ollie entered the Nottingham challenge which included running up and down the stairs of the Nottingham Forest City Ground, running against the infamous travelator (just like the one from the Gladiators TV show) , numerous climbing challenges, ropes, bars, hay bales and taking a dip in the Nottingham Trent River.

After completing numerous challenges for charity in the past, including the X-Runner Winter Warrior challenge in January, from which he raised almost £3,000 for The Lullaby Trust, and climbing Mount Snowdon to raise over £1,200 for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal, Ollie opted to complete this challenge as part of his local gym’s team instead.

They worked together to make sure that no-one got left behind, and concentrated on getting over the finish line in one piece, rather than completing it in the fastest time. Ollie said that he used the Fifteen ethic to keep him going, by focusing on the task at hand, making sure he completed each to the best of his ability, and helping his team members to complete the task to the best of their ability too.

When we asked him how he felt after completing the challenge, he said he was “too pumped to feel the pain or the cold”, but we can see it’s taken its toll on him this Monday morning (He did ask us to point out the war wound on his right cheek, showing just how hard he pushed himself).

After completing the challenge in under 2 hours (The winning men’s time was just under an hour), Ollie is proud of this achievement and ready to push himself even harder for the next one.
