D2N2 is a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) working to help improve the economy for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Funded by the government, they work with local businesses to help them increase profitability and tourism within their areas, thus increasing the local economy.
As part of their plan to help improve economical growth in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, D2N2 have access to a sum of money that they will be using to fund local business’ projects to improve their stability and growth. They currently offer two funding programmes. The ESIF (European Structural and Investment Funds) programme has been running since 2013, with £214m being allocated to D2N2. They are using this over the next five years to help achieve their goal of improving economical growth. The recently announced EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) is a funding programme designed to help the rural areas increase profitability. This includes funding activities such as:
Encouraging farmers to extend their reach to include non-agricultural activities, promoting tourism; which could include website development and digital marketing.
Increasing production for rural food and drink manufacturers.
Expansion of rural businesses through the construction of new workshops and installation of new machinery.
EAFRD Funding Events
There are number of events coming up, hosted by D2N2, that will not only explain in more detail what this funding is for and how to be eligible, but also to give advice to business owners on how to improve their profitability.
The first is on the 7th October 2015 at 17:00, and will be held at The Arc in Chesterfield, and the second will be held on the 14th October 2015 at 16:00 at the Gedling Borough Council Civic Centre in Nottingham.
