Stress has long been considered a workplace taboo. But with research suggesting over half of British employers have experienced mental health problems within their team, it is one that cannot be ignored.
As part of National Stress Awareness month, Fifteen have teamed up with Derby-based charity Stress Aid to improve the region’s workplace mental wellbeing with a new dynamic digital campaign.
#FAOStress highlights the importance of improved mental health awareness in the workplace and sends the message – stress is NOT a part of your job.
The campaign is aimed at both employees and their bosses – targeting the office worker with relatable campaigns that show the secret signs of stress they may be feeling; whilst providing their employers with an informative guide on ways to improve mental health in the workplace.
“There’s a common misconception that you should only seek counselling for something grief-related, or a huge event in your life.” Tim Almy, Director at Derby Stress Aid, explains: “People often hesitate before coming to us about something work-related, which they worry may be seen as trivial or just part-and-parcel of the job. We want to change that view and get out the message that there really is no issue too small to seek counselling from.”
The campaign recognises that stress in the workplace can appear in many forms including burnout, anxiety, bullying or loneliness. Each advert has been designed to show that, despite happy appearances, many people may be suffering – and it’s okay to talk about this.
Since teaming up with Stress Aid, also known as the Derby Counselling Centre, Fifteen has looked to help other businesses in the county replicate the success of their own company-wide resolution for workplace wellbeing.
The company-wide policy is one of our most successful to date – just look at what we’ve been getting up to!
